'Too old to be
sleeping on ground'
Bernard 'over
the moon'
with camper trailer prize
Have your say
BERNARD Hudson is now the proud owner of a brand new Jayco
camper trailer.
He won it after entering the Caravan Industry Association of Australia's
Win a Weekender competition, run in conjunction with Jayco, Dometic,
Top Parks and NewsCorp.
A thrilled Bernard, who submitted his entry through the Daily Telegraph,
collected the prize from Jayco's Sydney headquarters where he undertook an
induction in preparation for his first trip.
"My wife received the telephone call first and I didn't even think about
the competition at that stage," he said afterwards.
"I was over the moon. We do a bit of camping but I'm getting a bit old in
the backbone to be sleeping on the ground now."
He said he had been entering competitions all
his life but the camper trailer was the best prize he had ever won.
While Bernard is a lifelong camping enthusiast and often takes trips with
his family or friends, his wife has previously been hesitant to join in
and has only been camping twice in her life.
He hoped the newly acquired camper trailer would motivate her into joining
him on more regular trips away, both as a couple and with their two sons
who are in their twenties.
"I'm hoping the induction will encourage my wife
to re-think that camping is pretty good for you," he said.
"It's always been the boys and myself and it would be great to have my
wife with them."
