CLAIMING to be the Northern Territory's most awarded caravan park, BIG4 MacDonnell Range Holiday Park is planning a huge party to mark 30 years in the business.

The Alice Springs holiday destination will stage a mammoth celebration to thank the local community and holidaymakers for their support.

From humble beginnings as a small market garden in the 1970s, the family owned and operated park has developed into a tourist haven for local, interstate and international guests.

Owners Brendan and Bev Heenan are now inviting locals and tourists to a free family fun day at the park on April 6.

Visitors will be treated to a pancake breakfast from 9am accompanied by a didgeridoo performance.

There will also be face painting for kids, a bouncy castle, camel rides, live entertainment and some guests of the slithering kind with a presentation from the Alice Springs Reptile Centre.

To join in the free fun, guests must register their attendance. This can be achieved by clicking here.

All guests go into the draw to win an accommodation package.

Guests staying at the park in April will also receive a free anniversary stainless steel wine goblet as well as free upgrades and discounted BIG4 memberships throughout this month.

"We're so proud to reach this milestone we really wanted to share the celebration with those that have supported us for 30 years – the Alice Springs community," Brendan said.

"We would love local families and tourists to join us for a pancake brekky or a snag during the day to help us reflect on the past 30 years and welcome the next 30."

BIG4 MacDonnell Range has been crowned best holiday park in the Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards 22 times and was recently named the top NT holiday park in the 2013 Holidays with Kids' Readers’ Choice Awards.

The park is nestled in the MacDonnell Ranges, a unique region of scenic bushland, waterholes and diverse wildlife.

Surrounded by a red sand desert that stretches as far as the eye can see, it is the perfect base for exploring Australia’s awe-inspiring outback.

It offers a wide range of varied accommodation options from deluxe villas and simple cabins to large, grassed camping and caravan sites.
