NSW industry celebrates
with awards

Have your say

NSW's caravan and camping industry has celebrated the best of what the industry has to offer.

Its recent announcement of winners of the 2015 Awards of Excellence showcased holiday parks, dealerships, service providers and the state's manufacturing excellence.

"NSW is the most popular caravan and camping destination in Australia and we are celebrating our success," Caravan & Camping Industry Association of NSW president Theo Whitmont said.

"Each year we have an amazing line-up of entries for our Awards of Excellence program, and it really shows just what a fantastic caravan, camping and land lease living experiences we have here in NSW.

"From the quality of our products, to the standards of our service and the incredible range of options on offer, this is an industry I am proud to be a part of.

"Of significant note are our two ‘Best of the Best’ awards for Trade and Park which were awarded to Ballina-based manufacturer Horizon Motorhomes and the beautiful BIG4 Koala Shores Holiday Park in Port Stephens.

"Horizon has been producing specialist motorhomes since 1995 and is constantly enhancing their product offering to deliver the best product to their customers," Mr Whitmont said.

ALL SET FOR HAT-TRICK

WITH two awards up its sleeves already this year, Jayco Newcastle may be in line for the hat-trick. The dealership ‒ described by Jayco owner Gerry Ryan as "world class" ‒ has recently been announced as a finalist in this month's Motor Traders' Association of New South Wales Motor Industry State Awards. BIG4 Koala Shores was a "prime example of excellence in a holiday park", he said.

The park offered a huge range of cabins and camping sites and exceptional facilities including pool areas, cafe, tennis courts, mini golf, boat and go-kart hire and a kids' club.

"They have also taken out the award for Best Deluxe or Resort Style Park, further recognising the high level of amenity BIG4 Koala Shores provides," Mr Whitmont said.

NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres said the state attracted more than 2.2 million domestic caravan and camping visitors each year, the majority for holiday or leisure purposes.

"With the standard of product and service offered in NSW, it is no wonder we are the most popular state for caravan and camping holidays," he said.

"Tourism is a major economic driver and it is of particular importance in regional NSW where it accounts for more than one quarter of visitor holiday nights, making a significant contribution to the visitor economies in these areas.

"I congratulate the award winners from across the state and the CCIA for continuing to support the industry in achieving new standards of excellence."
