Cell's new model riding the crest of a wave

Have your say

CELL Caravans' new model is riding on the crest of a wave, the Victorian caravan company reports.

The Toy Hauler has attracted great interest from people wanting to take their 'man toys' away on holiday with them, marketing manager Amy Ryland told Caravanning News.

"Others want office space, pop-up shops and have all sorts of creative ideas for using the model," she said.

"The great thing is that it can be custom built to suit the needs of the owner, which is a huge bonus."

Cell Caravans moved into new 4-acre premises encompassing factory, office space, indoor showroom and outdoor caravan yard at Somerton about six months ago.

Most of its caravans are manufactured in the United States and built especially for Australian compliance, standards and conditions.

The company said it worked closely with its manufacturers in Indiana to ensure each RV was of the highest quality.

Cell Caravans is also working on a couple of off-road models with a manufacturer in Wangaratta.

"We are still in early days and ironing out the creases at the moment," Ms Ryland explained.

"The two models are on our website, the Illusion and the Liberator. They are more of a custom design for those wanting a more off-road experience."

She said Cell Caravans was "busier than ever" attending shows almost every week in 2014.

"We are so busy we cannot keep up with the enquiries, calls and emails and are desperately looking for some experienced sales staff to join our team.

"So far since starting the business we have sold approximately 350 caravans. The numbers are increasing and we expect a huge rise in 2014," she said.

Ms Ryland agreed that the company's RVs turned heads wherever they went.

"There are a lot of Cell caravans on Australian roads and I think it's a reassurance for caravanners to see we are a trustworthy and reputable company and that our caravans are something worth looking at," she said.

"The worry of an imported product from a new company has been reduced.  It helps that we have a fleet of Cell owners on the road singing our praises everywhere they go."

There is also an owners' club ‒ they call themselves the Cell Mates.

"This is great for social interaction and to get feedback from other owners too," Ms Ryland said.

"They have a forum where they talk about places they have been, tow vehicles, caravan tips etc and they try to meet up a couple of times a year for a good old happy hour somewhere."

Cell Caravans' general manager Joshua Ryland has just returned from America where he spent two weeks working with the company's  manufacturers on new projects and also fine tuning its existing range.

"Watch this space for some new and exciting things to come," Ms Ryland said.

"He spent days with manufacturers of the slide-out, Lippert, who really impressed him with their innovation and designs.

"He came home with a fountain of knowledge and bursting with new information for the Cell team."
