ACCC
launches Federal Court action against Australia’s largest caravan and
recreational vehicle manufacturer Jayco alleging it breached the
Australian Consumer Law by its conduct towards four customers who bought
defective Jayco caravans. The ACCC alleges that, between 2013 and 2015,
Jayco acted unconscionably towards four customers by obstructing them from
obtaining redress, such as a refund or replacement for their defective
caravan.

Person trapped in wreckage after smash
involving ute and car towing caravan on SA's Copper Coast Hwy near
Thrington on Yorke Peninsula early today. SA Country Fire Service crews on
scene. No further details available.
NOVEMBER
28:
Police today appealed for help in tracing an armed thief who made off with
cash from a WA caravan park. The masked crook struck on November 17 at
Mandurah's town centre Belvedere Caravan Park. A spokeswoman at the park
told Caravanning News today: "Nobody was hurt and we have no
further comment." Police said a man entered the park's reception area in
the late afternoon and demanded money from a staff member, saying he had a
weapon. He fled with cash. Police described him being about 170 to 175cm
tall and of slim build. He wore dark clothing and had a black scarf
covering his face. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers
on 1800 333 00.
NOVEMBER
27:
The
115-site Bridgewater Public Caravan Park in Victoria has been temporarily
closed because of a contaminated water tank. The closure came after diesel
from a failed fire system booster water pump was discovered at taps and
other water outlets. It was hoped the park could be re-opened tomorrow but
it could be later. Loddon Shire Council chief executive Phil Pinyon
explained that full assessment of rectification works was underway and was
likely to continue after the weekend. "Council's first priority is the
safety of the people using the caravan park and the people of
Bridgewater," he said. "Backflow controls in place have ensured that there
is no risk of the town water supply being contaminated so community
members can rest assured that their water supply is not affected beyond
the caravan park."

Two northbound lanes of NSW's Pacific
Motorway at Berowra were closed late last night after an accident
involving a caravan and car. Emergency services were at the scene but no
further details were available.

Leisurefest which wrapped up this afternoon attracted over 14,000
visitors, Caravan Industry Association of Victoria reports.

NOVEMBER 23:
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has
promised more protection for caravan buyers if Labour is re-elected on
Saturday. She said a raft of reforms would include covering caravans and
motorhomes in legal redress schemes. Ms Palaszczuk said her government
would lift the jurisdictional limit on motor vehicles -- including
caravans and motorhomes -- at the state's Civil and Administrative
Tribunal from $25,000 to $100,000. "Vehicles are a big financial
commitment and Queenslanders want to be sure they're getting what they
paid for," she said.

Two truckies and a
caravanning couple had lucky escapes when their vehicles overturned on a
major WA highway. The Great Eastern Highway was completely blocked this
afternoon near Emu Fence Road east of the Southern Cross community. Police
reportedly said no one had been injured. There is little information about
what caused the accident but police are investigating.

Dirranbandi Caravan Park on the Castlereagh
Highway in Queensland is on the market for $360,000. The owner's residence
is a former two-storey Catholic covent.
NOVEMBER 21:
Thieves made off with a caravan and four
firearms when they struck at Cape Bridgewater home in Victoria. The 1986
cream and orange single-axle Windsor poptop carried the registration
number U55760. The guns were an air rifle, .22 and .222 calibre rifles
and a 12 gauge shotgun.
NOVEMBER 21:
Tracey Leigh, who heads the controversial Lemon
Caravans & RVs in Aus website, posted a message on Facebook today saying
she fears for her safety. "I have been made aware of some aggressive
suggestions about me and I do have a real fear for my safety," she wrote.
Ms Leigh dismissed claims she was a "keyboard warrior".

LNP candidate Jason Costigan has promised
$200,000 to fund a new RV stopover in the rural sugar town of Proserpine
if elected at the Queensland state election on Saturday.

A Queenslander sprang into action when he
returned home to find an alleged thief rifling through his caravan parked
in an open carport. The quick-thinking owner slammed shut the caravan door
and locked it before contacting police, who quickly arrived at the scene
in Newtown, Ipswich. A 37-year-old has been charged and will appear in
court on November 30.

launched a novel new iOS and Android app which allows shy people to break
the ice and introduce themselves by phone to someone nearby. The $250,000
Spota app venture is reported to have been partially financed by Retreat
boss Senoll Kaptan.

Facebook-based pressure group Lemon Caravans & RVs in Aus is calling on
Queensland Attorney-General Yvette D'Ath to instigate a State Government
inquiry into the "operation and effectiveness" of Queensland Office of
Fair Trading in enforcing consumer laws. Group administrator Tracy Leigh
claims the lack of enforcement is leaving buyers of faulty RVs tens of
thousands of dollars out of pocket and "emotionally distressed".

CMCA RV Park on the Bruce Highway at Ingham in Queensland has now closed
for the summer's hot and wet season. It is hoped reopen the popular rest
area in late March.

12:
A young boy pulled unconscious from the water at
a Queensland caravan park yesterday has fully recovered. The four-year-old
was rushed to Nambour Hospital after the drama at the Sunshine Coast's
BIG4 Rivershore Resort on David Low Way, Diddillibah. It is believed his
father found him in the pool and another camper performed CPR on the boy
before emergency crews arrived. A spokesperson at the park today told
Caravannning News the youngster was now out of hospital and with his
family there. He declined to comment further. Police said when they
arrived at the park ambulance officers were already on the scene and the
boy was conscious and breathing.

Hahndorf Resort Tourist Park scored the double at last night's 2017 South
Australian Tourism Awards in Adelaide. It received the prestigious
Premier's Award for Service Excellence which recognises the finalist
across all categories who has demonstrated the most outstanding customer
service. It was also named South Australia's best caravan and holiday
park.

Adventure Whitsunday Resort scooped gold in the Queensland Tourism Awards
caravan and holiday parks category tonight. It now goes on to compete in
the national Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in Perth next February. Operated by the McKinnon
family for 24 years, the park is now officially a Queensland Hall of Fame
member. Well respected throughout the Sunshine State, it offers tourists
and holidaymakers a full range of accommodation from campsites to luxury
self-contained villas. Bronze award winner was Killarney View Cabins and
Caravan Park.

Mount Remarkable District Council in SA is
seeking a manager for Melrose Caravan Park. Applications close on November
30. Meanwhile, it is spending $12,000 on installing television outlets and
cables at the park.
NOVEMBER
9:
Sunland has recalled its Patriot caravans fitted with a
front storage box because of a possible fire risk. Affected models have
holes in the vertical dividers between sections of the external storage
compartment where the caravan's gas cylinders are kept, thus breaching gas
regulations. They were sold between July 8, 2015, and July 20, 2017. The
recall warns that gas could leak into other sections of the storage
compartment, posing a possible fire risk. Owners have been advised to
remove potential ignition sources such as batteries, torches or lighters
from adjacent compartments and contact Sunland on 07 5499 2250 to arrange
for a cover plate to be fitted over the holes.

City Council in Victoria is looking for an "experienced company" to manage
Victoria Lake Caravan Park for 12 months while it finds a longer-term
operator.

Tourist Caravan Park in NSW offering a 30-year lease for $535,000.
NOVEMBER 8:
A new camp site
has opened at Broken Hill to entice tourists. Starview Primitive Campsite
offers 15 unpowered caravan sites and eight tent sites, with
disability-friendly toilet and shower facilities and a sheltered barbecue
area. Stays are limited to two nights and cost $10 per person per night.
The idea for a basic campsite at the Living Desert was originally floated
by the park's Ranger, Darrell Ford, in 2010 and has slowly taken shape
over the last seven years.

NRMA Parks &
Resorts has acquired the picturesque 140-site Woodgate Beach Tourist Park
in Queensland. It now owns and manages 38 parks nationwide. The park,
south of Bundaberg, is popular with grey nomads. NRMA Parks & Resorts last
week bought Bathurst Panorama Holiday Park in NSW. Chief executive Paul
Davies said the Woodgate park was one of Australia' s "hidden treasures"
located along some of the country's most remarkable beachfront.

with a $500 Waeco fridge when they struck at Torquay Caravan Park on
Queensland's Fraser Coast.

Richmond's Lakeview
Caravan Park won top honours in the Outback Queensland Tourism Awards
Caravan and Holiday Park category. Over 250 tourism representatives
assembled in Cloncurry for the awards.

Ute towing caravan
involved in accident on Hunter Exp Branxton at Wine Country Drive, NSW,

Draft plans are
being prepared for RV rest area facilities at Cardwell and Innisfail
Showgrounds. They will be considered at a Cassowary Coast Regional Council
committee meeting next February.

Rest area near
Teven interchange on NSW's Pacific Hwy south of Ballina now out of bounds
to caravanners wanting to stay for more than 24 hours. Roads and Maritime
Services have erected No Camping signs reminding travellers the facility
is a "a designated rest area and not a camping area".

In an effort to
drive a better understanding of federal obligations within the caravanning
and camping industry, Caravan Industry Association of Australia is running
a one day Federal Technical & Regulatory Industry Symposium aimed to
update the industry on current issues of importance. The event will be
held on November 9 at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in
Melbourne.

Police in South Australia are investigating the theft of tools and
electrical items from a caravan at Monash. The property includes a Makita
torque wrench, Ozito chainsaw, Makita hand drill, Galaxy notepad with words
engraved on the rear, 30 watt Roland guitar amp, mobile telephone, black
Ibanez electric bass guitar and a white/cream SX electric guitar. Anyone

Northbound lanes of NSW's Pacific Highway at Ryans Road, Lake Innes,
blocked after caravan rolled today. Emergency services attended but no one
