New system 'works a treat'

Sewage: a whole new can of worms at Stony Point

A NEW sewage system at a Victorian caravan park has opened up a whole new can of worms!

In fact, thousands of the wrigglers are successfully handling raw sewage and waste water at the 70-site Stony Point Caravan Park on the Mornington Peninsula.

The new system uses worms to process solids and convert them into worm castings. Mixed with the waste water, this produces liquid fertiliser which can be used on gardens.

"It's working a treat," a spokesman at the caravan park told Caravanning News.

The single-chamber system was installed by A&A Worm Farm Systems which said all facilities can be connected, including toilets, laundries and ablution blocks.

"It is suitable for all sites where organic garbage is generated, including caravan parks and camping grounds," company spokesman Ev Duke told us.

Using worm technology, the system is non mechanical, has no smell, does not require de-sludging and there are no service contracts.
