Rejection despite public support
Council again gives thumbs
down to caravan park plan
A COUPLE'S application to turn their NSW farmstay business into a
much-needed caravan park has been rejected by the local authority ...
despite public support.
It was the second time that the Port Macquarie-Hastings Council's
development assessment panel had knocked back Barry and Shirley
Breckenridge's plan for a caravan park at the North Coast town of
Wauchope.
A disappointed Barry told Caravanning News: "This time we had 18
letters of support but they did not even discuss the proposal, so once
again Wauchope still does not have a caravan park."
The couple, who had requested permission to provide six cabins and eight
caravan sites at their Brecken-Ridge property in King Creek Road, said
they would consider what to do next.
"We are very disappointed as there are a lot of caravanners out there that
don't want to travel to the beach or a big park and prefer the
hinterland," Barry added.
