Have your say

POLICE are hunting hoons who terrorised travellers camped at beachside car park in Western Australia.

The unnamed couple were in their hired campervan at the car park of the CY O’Connor Beach in South Fremantle at 4.15am when they were deafened by a vehicle doing burn-outs a few metres away.

"The vehicle proceeded closer to the occupants, causing them to feel intimidated and frightened," a police spokesman said.

"They also heard a loud bang and were concerned the offenders may have been carrying firearms."

The tourists were able to drive out of the car park, but were followed by the hoons' vehicle, described as a white station wagon with unknown registration.

"As they drove off, the car came close to their van, eventually bumping it from side to side," the spokesman added.

The frightened man and woman were able to leave the area and call police.

A similar vehicle used in the hooning was later found burnt out in a Coolbellup street.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
