Lew selling up for family reasons No 'out of this world' offers made for desert UFO park By Dennis Amor A Northern Territory caravan park located in a desert area ranked fifth in the world for UFO sightings is up for sale.
But owner Lew Farkas told Caravanning News there had been no "out of this world" offers for the 250-site BIG4 Wycliffe Well Holiday Park, 130km south of Tennant Creek. "I've had lots of lookers but no one has been able to come up with the cash," he said. "Banks are really tightening up and it seems potential buyers are not able to raise the finance." His four-star, 60-acre park is located on the Stuart Highway and is up for sale for $1.8 million. Mr Farkas said he was selling for family reasons after 23 years at the park, renowned for its UFO activities. "I'm not getting any younger," he explained. "I'm approaching my sixties and need to spend more time with my family." The former Australian Navy physical training instructor is convinced extraterrestrials have been keeping a close eye on Wycliffe Well ... even sending down space vehicles for a closer look. And just to emphasise the point, two model aliens sit outside his park to welcome travellers. Walls are covered in UFO, planetary and night-sky murals ... not forgetting the mock spaceship and UFO warning signs. Mr Farkas can relate many stories of unexplained objects zipping around the skies over his desert park, which claims to stock the largest commercial range of beers in Australia. He tells of several personal sightings, one involving small lights manoeuvring round larger ones in a kind of figure-eight pattern. "I have had a close encounter where I actually saw the portholes - just like you read in the comic books of the past," he insisted. Mr Farkas said the area attracted scientists and professionals from all over the world. "Many book in here for a week but gather so much material they leave after three days ... that must tell you something," he added.
