Frightened schoolgirls dash to police station
Northern Territory sex pervert could By DENNIS AMOR A MAN who reportedly behaved indecently in front of schoolgirls in the Northern Territory could be a caravanner, police believe.
The 10 and 11-year-old victims told police the bespectacled, bearded fiend – who was driving a 4WD station wagon vehicle with caravan extension side mirrors – approached them in Tennant Creek as they were walking past the Sporties Club. After quizzing the youngsters about Tennant Creek the man turned his conversation to a sexual nature and began behaving indecently inside his vehicle. The shocked and frightened girls ran to a nearby police station to raise the alarm. Despite a police search of the area and local caravan park the pervert had disappeared. Police later issued a comfit likeness of the wanted man (pictured above). He is described as being of caucasian appearance, in his fifties or sixties with short grey shaved hair, short grey beard and overweight. He wore large round glasses, a blue polo shirt with black vertical stripes in the middle. His vehicle was similar to a late model Nissan Patrol with a sunroof, snorkel, silver bumper bar and aerial on the front bumper. It had a spare tyre with either a white or silver cover on the rear of the vehicle. Police have urged anyone, including caravanners or other travellers, who have seen the man or have information to contact them on 131 444.
