State reaps in highest takings NSW parks the nation's top earners, according to ABS CARAVAN parks in New South Wales are coining it in, according to new statistics. Figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics show that the State enjoyed the highest takings for all caravan parks for the December quarter, reaping in a healthy $95 million. Total accommodation takings for all the nation's caravan parks amounted to $258.3 million. The site occupancy rate for all caravan parks during the quarter was 52.4 percent. Short-term caravan park occupancy was 48.8 percent and long term occupancy 77.5 percent. This compared to accommodation takings for holiday flats, units and houses of $176.5 million. Real estate takings were 26.6 percent of total holiday flats, units and houses takings, the rest being for other letting entities. For visitor hostels, accommodation takings were $58.7 million.
