Couples set for free dream trip round Oz

CARAVANNERS and other travellers will set off on an all-expenses paid dream road trip around Australia next month.

The three lucky couples have been chosen to act as ambassadors for leading leisure products company Dometic in its Follow The Sun promotion.

Handpicked from over a thousand entries nationwide, Ross and Lorraine Turner from Pine Mountain, Queensland; Tony Johnson and Sue Hammond from Westlake, Queensland, and Jay and Dianne Goncalves from Berwick, Victoria, have each won approximately $35,000 in prizes.

In addition to the 13-week road trip, they will receive a complete makeover of their own recreational vehicles with a range of luxurious Dometic and WAECO products.

They will begin their adventure tours on June 13 after the Brisbane Caravan and Camping Show.

Ross and Lorraine, together with their children Jacob, 11, and Ella, 6, will embark on a tropical caravanning adventure through Queensland, while Tony and Sue will journey in their motorhome through three states. Jay and Dianne will take their Kimberley Kamper on a rivers, lakes and bush tour of New South Wales.

The Turners will head north to the Sunshine Coast, Hervey Bay, Bundaberg and Cairns before heading back south on an inland route, passing through Charters Towers, Emerald, Cania Gorge and back to the Gold Coast.

The Johnsons-Hammonds will travel to Broken Hill, the Claire Valley then to Adelaide and the Great Dividing Range. They will then travel to the Murray District, central Victoria and back to Queensland via the east coast.

The Goncalves will head south along the NSW coast, visiting river heads and lakes on their way to Sydney. They will then swing inland through Forbes, Dubbo, Tamworth, Gunnadah and Narabri before heading to the Gold Coast.

Each couple will promote Dometic's products by meeting other travellers and locals and entertaining them at 'happy hours' along the journey.

They will also post regular blogs of their adventures at www.dometicfollowthesun.com.au

"Being chosen as an ambassador for Dometic means we get the opportunity to do more of what we love – travelling, entertaining and meeting new people," Mr Johnson said.

Mr Turner couldn't wait to hit the road. "It is just a fantastic opportunity to see some of Australia's best destinations while being paid to travel and meet people – you can’t ask for much better than that," he said.

The winners’ journeys will finish on the Gold Coast with a huge party on September 15.

The couples had to say in 100 words why they would make good ambassadors for Dometic.
