Police arrest man and woman

Six caravans stolen from outback property

SIX caravans have been stolen from a rural property in Alice Springs.

Police arrested a 45-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman for stealing one of the caravans. They were charged with unlawful possession and stealing and bailed to appear in the Alice Springs Magistrates Court at a later date.

Their arrests followed inquiries by the Property Crime Reduction Unit after a woman drove into the outback town to report three missing caravans. When she returned with police they found three further caravans had been stolen.

Police said the six caravans were worth an estimated $38,950.

They are urging anyone who knows anything about the remaining five missing caravans to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
