Murder verdict after week-long trial Life sentence after killing at Hervey Bay caravan park A MAN who stabbed another to death at a Queensland caravan park has been jailed for life. Maryborough Supreme Court heard that Mitchell Lindsay Bell, 43, inflicted horrific injuries on his 48-year-old victim at Hervey Bay's Magnolia Caravan Park at the corner of Boat Harbour Drive and Taylor Street, Pialba, four and a half years ago. David James Cowan died after being stabbed 18 times in the chest and having his throat slashed three times. A jury found Bell guilty of murder after a week-long trial. Handing down the life sentence, Judge Anthony Skoien described it as a "foul crime". Bell , who had pleaded not guilty, told police he did not remember killing Mr Cowan but the Mental Health Court ruled he was fit to stand trial. He will be eligible for parole in 15 years.
