Opulent caravan  puts heart and
soul into travelling

Have your say

DESCRIBED as probably the most expensive caravan manufactured in Australia, Soul Caravans has already made a sale.

The Gold Coast company's 22-foot Soul 22 oozes opulence and was one of the stars at the recent Brisbane caravanning and camping supershow.

And it wasn't long before one impressed visitor from Singapore opened his cheque book and sealed a deal for the luxuriously kitted out $185,689 caravan which features one of the largest slide-outs on the market.

Soul's Curtis Goldring and Adam Skelton ‒ who have embraced techniques from their days in the boat-building industry ‒ wanted to produce a caravan more in the style of a luxury studio apartment on wheels than a conventional RV.

"We aimed to bring the great outdoors ‒ the light and the colour ‒ right into the caravan with windows across more than half of one side," Mr Goldring said.

"The electrically actuated windows stretch over the entire living area of the caravan."

He said the Soul 22 was fitted with a range of luxuries that would  appeal to experienced caravanners.

"The slide-out and massive side windows all open with electric actuators, as does the side awning. The electrical systems throughout the caravan have digital control so consumption can be monitored on a tablet computer and lighting can be controlled in the same way."

With a 3000kg tare weight, the touring and semi off-road caravan sports a body constructed as a one-piece fibreglass structure, ensuring an air and watertight seal and superior sound and temperature insulation.

The underside is completely sealed, eliminating any water or dust penetration while travelling.

The interior breathes quality and style, with the impressive slide-out stretching 4.38 metres ... nearly two thirds of the caravan's length.

It adds 20 percent more floor space when open, providing extra space for the queen-size east-west bed.

And forget those eye-squinting small televisions installed in most caravans ... this one sports a massive 50-inch model which pops out of the wall opposite.

It can even spin 180 degrees so it can be watched from outside through the large window.

The full width and roomy rear ensuite includes a washing machine while at the front the kitchen is also full width.

There is an L-shaped dinette, reading lounge and even a coffee machine station.

Soul's C-Zone digital switching system offers the very latest in home automation, allowing lighting throughout the caravan to be pre-programmed for various uses and times of day.

The company is planning a cheaper and lighter 19ft version.

Following the show success, it will hold an open day at Wongawallan in the Gold Coast hinterland on July 9 to give people a real experience of the caravan in its native environment.
