AFTER nearly 40 years in the caravan manufacturing business, Coromal
has released its first ever slide-out.
The extra space in the new Element 661 model helps accommodate an
east-west queen bed and improvements to the interior.
Fleetwood Corporation's RV division, which also builds the Windsor range
of caravans, said the new slide-out model, which costs under $80,000, was
in response to the growing demand for slide-outs in the Australian market.
It had already been well received at the major caravan shows.
Fleetwood recently admitted the caravan manufacturing side of its business
was facing "challenging" times ahead.
Revenue from its Recreational Vehicles division in the first half of the
current financial year reached a disappointing $51.3 million compared with
$56.7 for the corresponding period last year.
Fleetwood said an expected turnaround in its RV division business was
expected to "take time", but new products were generating a "modest"
increase in sales.
An upgrade in the Windsor range of caravans was expected to raise sales
and Fleetwood was also attempting to build a stronger network of Windsor and Coromal dealerships, particularly in NSW.
The company was focusing on design and manufacturing efficiency.
