'Never a better time to buy'

Show organisers prepare to welcome thousands of visitors

ORGANISERS are busy preparing to welcome thousands of visitors to this year's South Coast Caravan, Camping and Holiday Expo.

A surge of tourers is predicted at the event at Mackay Park in Batemans Bay from November 6 to 8 as travellers opt for value-for-money getaways which still offer true Aussie experiences.

Caravan and Camping Industry Association of NSW chief executive officer Barry Baillie said caravan and camping holidays were leading the resurgence in domestic tourism.

"Australians continue to travel, but now they are looking for holidays which won't break the bank and which will still offer the entire family a unique experience," he said.

"For this reason, unlike other tourism sectors which have suffered in visitation over the past year, caravan and camping tourism has experienced increased interest from first-time campers as well as avid enthusiasts looking for more affordable getaways.

"As the last caravan and camping event for the year, we predict that the South Coast Expo will attract large crowds to browse the many exhibitors offering pre-summer sales for those beginning a touring adventure and also for the more avid traveller."

Consumers of caravans, camper trailers and 5th wheelers also stand to save even more on their next purchase after the NSW State Government axed stamp duty on these recreational vehicles.

"It has never been a better time to buy these products and gear up for the summer holidays," Mr Baillie commented.

The South Coast Expo will feature the latest caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers, campervans, 5th wheelers, camping equipment and tents.

There will also be 4WD products and accessories, holiday destinations and tourist parks and more for the avid traveller to browse and buy.

"Travellers can make an informed purchase decision with such a variety of recreational vehicles, outdoor and leisure accessories and a range of holiday and tourist parks to browse and choose," Mr Baillie said.

Celebrating its eighth year, the South Coast Expo drives tourism to the area, with an influx of around 13,000 visitors expected again this year.

It will be open from 9am to 5pm daily, with free parking and entertainment.
