THE Caravan Trade & Industries Association of Victoria has a new executive officer.

Robert Lucas took over the role on July 1 from Peter Wright, who had held the position for the past 10 years.

CTIAV president Peter May said the change in management would strengthen the association at a time of growth and development.

"Robert brings substantial executive management, training and business development skills, and we are retaining Peter's skills to manage the logistics of our events," he said.

"In addition to our work in fostering caravanning and camping, and representing the wider interests of the industry, we are also expanding our event portfolio.

"The inaugural Border RV & Camping Expo at Wodonga from August 26 to 28 will give the region the same quality of major industry show as our Victorian Caravan Camping & Touring Supershow at Caulfield and the Melbourne and Bendigo Leisurefests.

"By happy coincidence, Robert has close ties with the border area, having lived and worked there for the past 12 years."

Mr Lucas has a background in industry and business services and education, with a focus on business and industry development.

Qualified in business management, HR management and education, he has worked in executive roles for major industry organisations and also run his own consultancy.

At Albury-Wodonga he boosted the profile of the Wodonga Chamber of Commerce, established his own HR consulting and training practice and managed regional services for the Victorian Employers Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Australian Industry Group.

Mr Lucas, who is originally from Melbourne, said he was looking forward to working with CTIAV.
