National survey reveals most popular destination

Sunshine State tops poll

Nation's capital limps in last

  Have your say

A NATIONAL survey has revealed that Queesland is the most popular state among caravanners.

Researchers working for Australia's giant Jayco RV manufacturing company discovered that nearly 30 percent of people preferred the Sunshine State as their first choice of holiday destination.

Also popular was New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the ACT turned out to be the least popular destination for caravan holidays, with less than one percent of respondents indicating they would like to visit the nation's capital in an RV.

Jayco said that RV sales had been steadily increasing since 2009 as the nation catches onto the caravan craze.

"Sales in 2010 increased by 15 percent," marketing director Andrew Ryan explained.

"The family market in particular has continued to grow as more families want to experience the relaxation and affordability that comes with an RV holiday."

He said modern RVs were more comfortable and better equipped than ever before, and there was a make and model to suit every taste.

"An RV trip allows you to experience authentic Australia, meet new people and spend relaxing time outdoors with friends and relatives," Mr Ryan added.

Jayco used research company Pure Profile to conduct the online survey amongst 1004 Australians.
