Spreading campers leave sour taste Spreading complaints bite home at waterfront park HARVEY Bay's largest beachfront caravan park is to ban overnight stays at one of its most popular sites. This follows complaints that thoughtless holidaymakers using site number 210 at the three-and-a-half star, 175-pitch Pialba Beachfront Caravan Park have been spreading their belongings and encroaching on the Venni Amici Restaurant, now known as The Boat Shed. Now Harvey Bay City Council will close the waterfront site, despite having confirmed bookings until July this year. Families had reportedly booked "well ahead" for holidays from January 12–19; March 20–24; April 7–8 April, and July 7–24. But a council report says: "Due to ongoing issues with camping site number 210, it is proposed that all bookings for the site, with the exception of two over the Christmas holiday period, be cancelled. Patrons will be given the choice of a full refund of their deposit, or the relocation to another site within the park." The council plans to spend up to $1500 revegetating and erecting a fence around site 210. BACK TO CARAVANNING NEWS MAIN PAGE
