Great news, say caravanners Pets finally find a haven at waterfront parks in NSW CARAVAN parks on NSW's South Coast have finally put out the welcome sign to travellers' pets. A dozen beachfront, riverfront and lakeside Holiday Haven tourist parks have lifted a ban on pets and will accept them for a trial period. Caravanners and motorhomers had complained about the shortage of pet-friendly caravan parks in the Shoalhaven area and locals said this was giving the holiday playground a bad name. But Shoalhaven City Council decided at a recent meeting to give pets a chance and allow them into parks. The decision has been applauded by travellers, including many grey nomads who regard their four-legged friends as companions and part of the family. "This is great news," Victorian pensioner Lionel Smart, who travels with his pet terrier Corky, told Caravanning News. "Let's hope more caravan parks follow suit because it is getting more and more difficult to find parks that allow pets." Another caravanner said the previous ban on animals had given the South Coast a bad reputation and had resulted in many people avoiding the area. BACK TO CARAVANNING NEWS MAIN PAGE
