Group now boasts parks in all mainland states

No-frills chain forges ahead as more parks join up

ANOTHER four caravan parks have joined the go-ahead Oz Parks chain.

The fledgling national caravan and tourist park group, launched only two years ago, now boasts 36 parks covering all mainland states.

Latest to join are the well known three-and-a-half-star Gilgandra Rotary Caravan Park on the Newell Highway in NSW; the two-and-a-half-star Regatta Point Holiday Park at Wallaga Lake, also in NSW, the three-star Greenacres Motel Van Park on the Bruce Highway at Benaraby in Queensland and the three-star Range View Caravan and Cabin Park in Port Pirie, SA.

Between them, the trio adds another 277 sites to the chain.

Oz Parks chief executive officer John Corrall, who launched the group with wife Jane in 2005 with a 'no frills' concept in mind, said travellers now had a wider tourist and caravan park accommodation choice than previously available.

"We began with 20 parks and with the support and assistance of our Loyalty Club members and other groups will continue adding more parks to our chain," he told Caravanning News.

"As a consequence, we will be able to offer an even greater level of service."

Mr Corrall said that with a philosophy of "clean, competitive and congenial" the chain catered not only to families, but also to travellers not requiring all the "bells and whistles" offered by some organisations.

"Most guests only require to be greeted with a friendly smile and be offered clean cabins, a level site and spotless amenities at competitive rates," he added.

Oz Parks was introducing a low cost Eco Friendly Programme throughout its parks, similar to the successful programme operated at the Oz Parks Lane Cove River Tourist Park north of Sydney.

Owned and operated by the National Parks and Wildlife Service of NSW, Lane Cove worked closely with the NSW Department of Environment and Conservation to develop a "green park" scheme.

"The program is managed from our Sydney park and is now being rolled across our member parks," Mr Corrall said.

The program encompasses greenhouse gases and water reduction, waste minimisation, native habitat and social responsibility.

"Oz Parks consider this to be a work-in-progress program and will make amendments in the event that future shortfalls are identified or environmental changes dictate that a high level of conformity is required," he added.
