Essential tool for travellers New guide will help get best out of outback adventures A NEW guide will help caravanners wanting to fossick for dinosaur fossils, stargaze or meet 'fair dinkum' Queensland locals.
State Tourism Minister Desley Boyle said it would be essential for visitors planning an outback holiday. "Queensland's Outback 2008 Travellers' Guide is a comprehensive town-to-town guide for anyone wanting an outback adventure," she said. "It features a wide range of attractions, events and accommodation options as well as experiences like dinosaur fossil and gem fossicking, world-class stargazing, four wheel driving and fishing. "Our outback is home to some spectacular national parks including Lawn Hill Creek, Canarvon Gorge, Kooroorinya Falls and Diamantina River - this guide will make sure visitors know the best way to reach these magnificent locations." Ms Boyle said Queensland's outback was well positioned to benefit from the growing trend of travellers seeking new and different experiences. "In the year ended December 2007 there were more than 520,000 domestic visitors to Queensland's outback, who on average stayed nearly four nights," she said. Queensland's Outback 2008 Travellers' Guide is available through visitor information centres or by visiting the website: www.outbackholidays.info. BACK TO CARAVANNING NEWS MAIN PAGE
