Council campaign to slash usage Water plea to travellers as city tackles record drought CARAVANNERS visiting a NSW city are being urged to fall into line with locals and cut their water usage. The plea comes after level five restrictions were introduced to drought ravaged Orange on the State's Central Tablelands for the first time in its history. Orange City Council aims to slash water consumption at the Showground Caravan Park by at least a third by installing water-saving devices. It was hoped to save three megalitres annually. Media and promotions manager Nick Redmond said the council was attempting to reduce surplus use at a time when the community was making a concerted effort to save water. Council workers will fit all council taps with water-saving devices which reduce the flow by aerating the water. Meanwhile, all hoses have been banned and residents can only use buckets to water gardens between midday and 1pm on Sundays. BACK TO CARAVANNING NEWS MAIN PAGE
