'Great result for local tourism'

WHEN it comes to families, an NRMA holiday park has been voted tops.

Ocean Beach Holiday Park on NSW's Central Coast has just scooped the title of Best Australian Family Park in the 2014 Out and About with Kids Best of Family Travel Awards.

Treasure Island Holiday Park on the Gold Coast and Merimbula Beach Holiday Park on the NSW South Coast came in third and ninth respectively.

The popular magazine’s annual awards aim to uncover the best places in the world for families to stay, with readers voting in a range of different categories.

The magazine received thousands of votes over a six-month period from October 2013 to April 2014.

Treasure Island was also named third in both the Best Australian 4-star and Under Family Resort or Hotel and Best Baby and Toddler Resorts and Hotels categories.

NRMA's newest addition, Murramarang Beachfront Nature Resort, came in at number 11 in the Best Australian 4-star and Under category.

NRMA Holiday Parks commercial manager David Birch said he was grateful for the support of Australian families.

"We strive to provide a great mix of family-friendly facilities, excellent hospitality and sensational locations," he said.

"With jumping pillows, pools, water slides, playgrounds, water parks, golf, lawn bowls ‒ combined with the local beaches, waterways, hinterland, shops and restaurants ‒ we think it's a great offering and are glad that thousands of Aussies agree!"

Mr Birch said the destinations of Batemans Bay and the Gold Coast were voted first and third respectively in the Best Australian Beachside Family Holiday Town category.

"Having properties in those destinations (Treasure Island and Murramarang), it is a great result for those local tourism industries," he added.
