AUSTRALIAN Tourist Park Management has named Mark Manteit as its new chief executive officer.

Mr Manteit will take up his new appointment on July 14, replacing company founder John Tilton who will step back from day-to-day operations and continue as a part-time business development manager after 20 years building the business.

Chairman Graham Henry said Mr Manteit had more than 20 years of experience in senior and executive management roles in both public and private sectors, with a strong tourism and finance background.

"Mark brings to ATPM a wealth of experience in strategic development, business planning and financial management, as well as an understanding of the ever-changing tourism industry," he said.

Mr Manteit began his career as an accountant with Ernst and Young and was one of the youngest partners to ever be appointed at the firm.

He has since held senior roles at organisations including Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, the Phillip Island Nature Park, Melbourne Aquarium, Queensland Parks and Wildlife, the National Trust of Victoria and HSR Seeds.

Mr Henry said Mr Manteit's impressive results in previous roles, coupled with his diverse skill set and interpersonal skills, led to him being selected from a strong candidacy pool.

Mr Henry also paid his respects to Mr Tilton as he steps out of day-to-day work at ATPM.

"John has been the heart and soul of ATPM for 20 years," he said.

"He started a small business 20 years ago with a vision of providing the best holiday experiences in Australia.

"Today that business is a national company with hundreds of staff, partnering with iconic brands such as NRMA Holiday Parks.

"He is dearly loved and respected by the industry and will be greatly missed."

He said Mr Tilton would remain a valued part of ATPM developing the business, as well as a shareholder and director where his industry knowledge and contacts would continue to assist with the ongoing success of the company.
