Morning tea marks special occasion

Cuppas, cake and lifetimes of fun holidays

  Have your say

SENIOR holidaymakers toasted a lifetime of happy holidays at a NSW caravan park ... with cuppas and cake.

A special morning tea Narooma Easts Holiday Park was an occasion to celebrate, with sprightly 91-year-old Irene Bird and fellow caravanner Jim Preston, 83, being the oldest guests.

"It was a momentous occasion having all our old faithfuls here with us," park manager Lyn Field told Caravanning News. "Most of them seemed to have been coming to us forever."

Irene, from Warrawong near Wollongong, has been holidaying at the 4-star BIG4 park since she was nine-month-old, while Jim, from Lake Conjola, has been a regular since the tender age of three.

And to mark the occasion they joined other faithful guests and tucked into a celebratory cake with their cuppas.

"We were so lucky to have so many of our old guests here at the same time," Lyn said. "It was just lovely."

She described Irene as a "wonderful' woman who usually arrived at the park by herself every Christmas and stayed until Easter.

"She has  her own caravan which we store for her and tow to her site for when she arrives," Lyn explained.

"She holds the record for being our oldest guest and is an incredible lady who does amazing embroidery."

Lyn said that despite her age, Irene still liked to get out and about, with frequent visits to the local bowling club and RSL. "She just loves to socialise," she added.
