A CHANGE of name and new managers will herald a fresh start for a beachside caravan park in Queensland.

Confusion has reigned over the future of Bundaberg Regional Council's holiday park at Moore Park Beach since future bookings were blocked last year.

But it has now been revealed that Golden Sands Holiday Park is to be given a new image with the departure of Anthony and Ina Climas, who have run the holiday destination for many years.

The caravan park will be closed until March 14 when it will throw open its gates as the Moore Park Beach Holiday Park under the control of new managers Diane and Don Brickell.

The couple has successfully managed the council's Lighthouse caravan park at nearby Burnett Heads since 2008.

Diane told Caravanning News: "We are really looking forward to the challenge and plan a total clean-up. We want to make it look like it's loved and a great place for families."

She said they planned to put in new plants and provide plant boxes throughout the park.

Bundaberg Regional councillor Alan Bush said the Brickells would bring a host of new improvements to the park while retaining the tried and tested formula for a friendly, clean holiday atmosphere which guests at other council holiday parks around the region enjoyed all year round.

"Diane and Don have plenty of experience in running holiday parks and are looking forward to the challenge of building the Moore Park Beach holiday park into a great family holiday destination as well as an irresistible stop for grey nomads," he said.

The Moore Park Beach kiosk will be incorporated into the operations of the adjoining holiday park, streamlining the service provision to both areas.

"The kiosk will house the holiday park reception and managers' residence, with the main entrance of the park being re-routed to the beach side of the kiosk," he explained.

"The Brickells will take over the operation of the kiosk themselves as a family business, offering a selection of convenience store and newsagent items, as well as a great range of food and beverages."
