ALL roads will lead to Maryborough in Queensland this month when caravan clubs from all over the state hold their annual get-together.

About 600 caravanners will head to the town's showground for the Combined Caravan Clubs of Queensland's annual rally beginning October.

Members from all over Queensland and Northern New South Wales will attend the week-long event, which will be officially opened on Friday evening by State Member for Maryborough Chris Foley.

Maryborough's own Mary Heritage and the Town Crier will also attend the ceremony.

Organisers, who have been busy putting together a varied program, said there would be something to keep everyone entertained and busy during their stay.

Activities will range from seminars on health care, safety issues, technology and caravan-related topics to craft workshops, photo competition, book discussion group, disc bowls competition, line dancing lessons, mini car racing, a fashion show and much, much more.

Local groups will provide evening entertainment and there will be a catered meal on the Saturday night before rallyists don their recycled gear for an Op Shop Dance.

"It is hoped that people will buy their outfits locally thus supporting worthy causes in the area," a spokesperson told Caravanning News.

Tours of local attractions, including a whale watching tour, a ghost tour and a heritage cruise have also been arranged.

Saturday will see a huge market day, always very popular, and members of the public will be welcome to attend and hold their own stall if desired.

An array of caravan-related exhibits will also be on display during the rally and the organisers said they were grateful to exhibitors for their support.

"Business houses and locals of Maryborough and Hervey Bay have also been very generous in their support leading up to the rally and for this the Combined Caravan Clubs of Queensland is very grateful," the spokesperson said.

"Without their backing and the help of members of the caravan clubs affiliated with the CCCQ, the rally wouldn’t happen.

"The rallies offer an opportunity for members of the 32 caravan clubs affiliated with the CCCQ to get together annually and renew friendships made at previous state rallies, and make new friends.

"And this, the 36th state rally, will be no exception as we put into practice our motto for the rally ... 'Have a whale of a time in Maryborough and the Fraser Coast'."
