'Huge potential for improvements'
Authority has new vision for opal
town's caravan park
THE
new managers of a caravan park in New South Wales' famous opal town have a
fresh vision for its future.
The Lands and Property Management Authority, which recently took control
of the 84-site Lightning Ridge Caravan Park from the local council, would
like to see it redeveloped into a fully fledged tourist park.
Members believe there is huge potential for improvements at the park in
Harlequin Street and that it could become more of an asset to the local
community.
Currently only 22 of the park's sites are available for tourists.
Leased by the Hungerford family's Ridge Park Pty Ltd for 10 years, the
caravan park fell back into the hands of the local council last October.
It is understood there are eviction and demolition notices in force at the
park and these will still be valid.
A spokesperson said the Lands and Property Management Authority was aware
of all outstanding notices and these would be pursued "as a matter of
course".
