Growing need for affordable holiday accommodation

More land necessary for new WA caravan parks: industry

MORE land needs to be available to develop new caravan parks, according to Western Australia's caravan industry.

The boss of Caravan Industry Association WA believes there is a growing need for affordable holiday accommodation.

Chief executive Pat Strahan said although there were 18 caravan parks in the Peel region, another tourist park was needed in the Mandurah area.

At least four caravan parks had pulled down the shutters in the last decade and question marks hovered over others.

Avid caravanners and owners of the 50-site Estuary Hideaway Holiday Park at Bouvard, Debbie and Paul Lance said it was important to protect family caravan parks in the area.

"Travelling and holidaying with the family is very important and we are passionate about that," they told media.
