Time to catch up with
old friends
After 20 years' hard work, the
Carrs have other fish to fry
PARK managers Greg and Colleen Carr have made lots of friends since
taking over the reins at a West Australian caravan park.
But now the hardworking couple has decided it's time to leave the
Kookaburra Caravan Park and chase up some of the acquaintances they have
neglected over the years.
Former shearer Greg and his wife have managed the park since 1990, turning
it into a popular four-star holiday destination.
Greg, who worked as a handyman with the local authority before taking over
the park, became noted for taking guests fishing and laying on fish and
chips for happy campers.
He and his wife have seen generations of the same family pass through the
park, which comprises three individual areas offering 177 powered sites,
on-site accommodation and camping facilities.
"We've made some amazing friends here, lifelong friends, but now it's time
to go," mother-of-three Colleen said.
And to ease themselves into their new-found freedom, the Carrs plan a
six-month stint of housesitting in Perth and catching up with old friends.
