Upward trend predicted to continue

WA parks record Australia's highest revenue growth

CARAVAN parks in Western Australia recorded Australia's highest revenue growth during the quarter ending December, Australian Bureau of Statistics figures reveal.

The news comes as revenue in the caravan and holiday park industry soared by more than seven percent nationally ... with experts predicting the upward trend continuing well into this year.

At 12.3 percent, WA's income growth came in tops for the quarter. The Northern Territory, South Australia and Victorian markets also demonstrated strong growth figures of 10.9 percent, 9.8 percent and 8.3 percent respectively.

Caravan, RV & Accommodation Industry of Australia (CRVA) chief executive officer Ben Yates thought the figures were the result of "new face" caravan holiday parks which now provided affordable traditional sites right through to luxury resort-style facilities.

"Despite the recent economic downturn our industry continues to grow quarter on quarter," he told media. "Much of this is due to the industry moving with the times and giving the public facilities they want at a price they can afford."
