'Doing their bit' for environment Oz Park's Greenacres celebrates green status ANOTHER member of the Oz Parks chain has won green park status. The three-star Greenacres Motel Van Park on the Bruce Highway at Benaraby has been awarded Green Park Certification and Green Star Accreditation. The Green Park program is a co-operative venture between Oz Parks and the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service as a sustainable tourism program for the future. Oz Parks is the first national caravan park chain to have adopted such a program. To earn the award, the 40-site park south of Gladstone successfully launched projects resulting in greenhouse reduction; water conservation; waste and recycling management; habitat and biodiversity; and social and community. Co-owner Shelly Hansen said she and husband Mark were delighted and proud to receive the award. "We are doing our bit and if everyone else did their bit we wouldn't be in the environmental mess we are in today," she said. BACK TO CARAVANNING NEWS MAIN PAGE
