BIG4 Beacon Resort at Queenscliff in Victoria has received the VicParks Green Park Award for being a top performer in environmental practices.

The gong recognises operators which have made and will continue to make a significant contribution to the establishment and growth of sustainable environmental practices.

Through waste management, water saving programs, solar panels systems and other sustainable practices within the park, Beacon has achieved great success in this arena over the past two years.

"We are very proud to have been awarded the Vic Parks Green Award 2016," a park spokesperson said.

"We are acutely aware that our business is significantly reliant on the quality of the natural environment which is one of Queenscliff's major attractions.

"We believe we have an ethical obligation to consider the environment in our business decisions."

The park announced it was also "very proud" that its general manager, Lisa Shapter, was a finalist in this year's Vic Parks Employee of the Year Award.

"An incredible achievement in a toughly contested category," the spokesperson said.

The Beacon Resort has won 52 tourism and business awards over 45 years as well as being inducted into Victoria's Tourism Hall of Fame.

It is only a 90-minute drive from Melbourne and said it offers something unique for everyone.

The resort is located on the Bellarine Hwy.
