"Is this greedy or what?" National chain questions wisdom of charging visitors CARAVAN parks have been cautioned not to fall into the trap of charging guests unnecessary fees. The warning follows reports of one park wanting to slap a $13 levy on a couple who merely asking to drop in for a cuppa and chat with friends (see Caravanning News, December edition). In its member park newsletter, national caravan and tourist park chain OzParks said such parks should beware. "Charging casual visitors, even those that stay for a barbecue with guests, will bring about adverse publicity that you and the chain can well do without," it said. The worst report concerned a couple who called at a NSW caravan park for a cuppa with old friends but were asked to cough up $4 each and another $5 to park their car. "Is this greedy or what?" questioned the newsletter.
"Maybe it is, maybe it's not ... but a park can get itself all the bad
publicity it wants without having to charge people to speed up the
process. The happiness of guests is paramount. Better service brings
better rewards," it added. BACK TO CARAVANNING NEWS MAIN PAGE
