Golf swings into action as
order book fills with new business A QUEENSLAND caravan manufacturer is predicting a rosy future, despite all the global economic gloom. Golf Caravans, based at Lawnton north of Brisbane, has revamped its management team and reports a healthy order book as other caravan builders and importers fall victim to plummeting sales, forcing their closure. Speaking at the recent nine-day NSW Caravan, Camping, 4WD & Holiday Supershow, Golf Caravans boss Kerin Mendoza revealed that since January orders and sales had been increasing. "For the rest of the financial year and into the next, we are expecting to be ramping back up to sales and production levels approaching those of over 12 months ago," she said. Ms Mendoza expressed the optimism she felt with the new, experienced management team recently put in place to steer her company into the future. Local businessman Ralph Martell has been appointed general manager. He said Golf Caravans was looking to upping production to cope with increasing orders and was anxious to recruit new dealers in other states. Golf Caravans was founded 34 years ago and remained in the same hands until Majyk Pty Ltd bought the company from the original owners in 2007.
