Fishing for new place to stay?

New RV park offers tranquil escape

Meeting a growing need

Have your say

CARAVANNERS touring Western Australia have a new place to drop their steadies near Perth.

The popular Golden Ponds Recreational Fishing Park and Function Centre at Baldivis, 46km south of the city, has thrown down the welcome mat for caravanners and motorhomers.

Owner Tony Pannacchione told Caravanning News he had opened the RV park to meet a growing need.

"We had travellers who said they could not find anywhere to stay with their big rigs," he explained. "So we have provided 11 sites which are easy to get in and out of."

Manager Chris Cater said the park was already proving popular ... "probably by word of mouth".

"We have had travellers from all over Australia, including Queensland," she explained. "One couple has even booked for next Christmas, so we must be doing something right."

While the RV park was unable to accommodate large groups such as caravan and motorhome clubs at the moment, it was planned to offer more sites in the future.

Sites cost $30 a night with a discounted weekly charge of $180.

The park has a new amenities block, coin-operated laundry, large camp kitchen ... and two dump points.

Golden Ponds is set on 100 acres and offers stunning lakes for recreational fishing and is described as "a tranquil alternative to the hectic rush" of the world outside.
