Industry releases downloadable guide app

Digital glove box tool essential for NSW visitors

Have your say

NEW South Wales' caravan industry has launched its first digital glove box tool to help caravanners and campers.

Visitors can now access the most comprehensive listing of the state's caravan and camping sites and a complete range of product suppliers ... anywhere and at any time.

This is made possible by a new downloadable app of the Caravan, Camping & RV Holiday Touring & Products Guide 2014.

"This app is an essential tool for NSW visitors and gives them a fully mobile option for looking up more than 400 holiday parks and over 200 RV product and services suppliers, with embedded links and videos," CCIA NSW chief executive Lyndel Gray said.

"We are excited to be launching this new service, which is the first in a series of CCIA 'digital glove box' features that will grow to include great caravan and camping tools such as our towing guide and hints, tips and information ... all available through the touch of an icon on your mobile tablet device.

"This free, downloadable app gives people access to information on their mobile device without the need for wireless connection, making it a great tool for people on the road and searching for their next place to stop."

Ms Gray said caravan and camping was fast becoming the holiday of choice for many Australians, with NSW parks attracting around 2.4 million visitors a year.

"Overall we have seen a 15 percent increase in visitors to commercial parks for the year to December, 2013, and a seven percent increase in visitor nights.

"This is a great result and shows just how much we love a caravan or camping holiday.

“We are very proud to be developing tools that support this growth and the app, launched alongside the latest edition of the NSW Caravan, Camping & RV, Holiday, Touring and Products Guide, is a terrific and valuable resource for anyone looking to travel around NSW.

"While the guide has provided essential information to generations of families taking caravan and camping holidays, we have ensured delivery of that information has evolved with the times, with an e-book and online information and a mobile app for those on the move."

The guide has all the information on where to go, what to see and where to stay across NSW, including detailed maps, distance guides, local attractions and events, details on sites for larger RVs, internet access, dump point facilities and disabled access.

It also provides a wealth of information on NSW member manufacturers, dealers and retailers of RV products, services and accessories.

The guide can be downloaded for iPad or Android tablet through the App Store or Google Play.
