LEADERS from the world's recreational vehicle industries will travel to
Australia this month for their annual conference.
The Caravan Industry Association of Australia will host the prestigious
three-day World RV Conference at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne beginning
February 25.
The association said the conference would provide an opportunity for the
Australian industry to showcase its own strengths and challenges and to
build bridges with industry leaders globally.
"Since its inception in Dusseldorf in 2008, the World RV Conference has
provided the RV industry with an opportunity to come together and discuss
trends, challenges and strategies to improve growth and international
cooperation," chief executive Stuart Lamont explained.
Choosing Australia to host the world conference was a testament to the
strength and dynamism of the Australian caravanning and camping industry.
Delegates from China, America, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Italy,
Sweden, the Netherlands and Ghana will attend.
"They aren't coming because it's a quick trip," Mr Lamont said.
"They are coming because they recognise the opportunity to get closer to
the Australian RV industry and to learn more of its story from industry
leaders and their peers within the worldwide RV industry."
Speakers will include IBISWorld founder and chairman Phil Ruthven who will
deal with key demographics and their impact on the RV industry.
Dr Keith Suter, a member of the prestigious Club of Rome and holder of
three doctorates, will speak about A World United.
The former president of the University of Sydney's Centre for Peace and
Conflict will explain how global political instability could affect the RV
industry.
The conference will also feature a dynamic line-up of workshop topics such
as Spotlight on China: Threat or Opportunity, global retailing
trends and world compliance regimes.
"We are delighted to present our global delegates with a dynamic and
knowledgeable program of speakers," Mr Lamont said.
"The aim of the World RV Conference is to create an environment for
dialogue and knowledge-sharing among leaders of the RV Industry
internationally and to highlight Australia’s strong position both
domestically and internationally.
"The conference program boasts an incredible line-up of speakers, chosen
for their experience and talents, as well as their ability to stimulate
global conversation and inspire delegates to think beyond the national
landscape."
Previous World RV Conferences have been held in Dusseldorf (2008) and
Florida (2013).

MEANWHILE, a war hero and a former prime minister will be among
speakers at the Australia's own national conference preceding the world
event.
Former Aussie soldier and Victoria Cross recipient Benjamin "Ben"
Roberts-Smith and former Prime Minister John Howard will urge delegates at
the 3-day Caravan Industry Association of Australia event at the same
venue to 'be bold, be brave, be noticed'.
That is the theme of the conference which begins on February 27.
Also speaking will be expert brand strategist Duane Knapp and businessman
and television presenter Eddie McGuire.
Association chief executive Stuart Lamont said the theme was particularly
important this year.
"It reflects the need for the industry to make some bold and brave moves
to ensure we are properly recognised – and that government, media and
consumers notice us," he explained.
