A SEVEN-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital after he became a human fireball in an horrific accident at a Queensland caravan park.

The youngster suffered 26 percent burns at the Millmerran Caravan Park near Toowoomba and was taken by an RACQ CareFlight helicopter to the Royal Children's Hospital's burns unit.

Paramedics rushed to the caravan park after frantic calls for help and gave first aid for burns to the victim's torso and thighs.

An ambulance spokesperson said the boy’s clothes had caught fire but a CareFlight spokeswoman said luckily his airway had not damaged in the accident.

Millmerran Caravan Park boss Neil Ezzy told media that the father and boy had moved from the Beeleigh area and had been living at the park for about six months.

It is believed the youngster had been playing with a lighter when he set himself ablaze.
