Holidaymakers bring smiles to park operators

Peninsula's Easter rush puts
egg on faces of gloomy pundits

CARAVAN park operators on South Australia's Eyre Peninsula were rejoicing after holidaymakers flocked to the region for the Easter weekend.

Some Easter pundits feared the economic gloom would result in falling visitor numbers.

But a Tourism Eyre Peninsula survey of 11 parks revealed occupancy levels either equalled or bettered previous years, with one reporting a 19 percent increase over last year.
