Defendant had never held driving licence Drink-drive caravanner jailed for six months A MAN caught drink-driving while towing a caravan has been jailed for six months. Roy Lee Coombs, 44, returned a breath-test reading of 0.17 when stopped by police on the Olympic Highway, about 7km north Culcairn in New South Wales. Albury Local Court was told officers saw his panel van and caravan allegedly swerving across the highway late at night. They said Coombs, of West Wyalong, had downed eight full-strength beers during the day and drank the last one while driving. The defendant told the court he drove because he had been forced to leave a property at short notice when his female boss allegedly sexually harassed him. The court was told he had four previous convictions for drink-driving and had never held a driving licence.
Coombs, who was also banned from driving for three years, has lodged an
appeal against the sentence. BACK TO CARAVANNING NEWS MAIN PAGE
