Boom gate no deterrent

Probation for teenage thief
who targeted annexes

A TEENAGE thief who stole from annexes at a popular Queensland caravan park has been placed on probation and ordered to repay cash he took from a wallet.

Maroochydore Magistrates Court heard that Brandon Robert Curyer targeted eight annexes at the Sunshine Coast's Cotton Tree Caravan Park and made off with alcohol including rum, whisky and vodka.

The 17-year-old also stole a television, mobile phone, laptop and wallet.

He drove away in a Hyundai after noticing the keys in the ignition, squeezing between the boom gate and toilet block.

Police apprehended him when they saw the stolen car and four males near the Fourth Avenue rugby field.

Curyer was ordered to complete 12 months of probation and repay $110 he stole from the wallet.
