Victim in plaster for six weeks

Park manager attacked in case of mistaken identity, court told

A SUNSHINE Coast caravan park manager was attacked in a case of mistaken identity, a court heard.

The 53-year-old boss of Queensland's Maroochy River Cabin Village and Caravan Park was knocked to the ground with a punch to the jaw last July, Maroochydore Magistrates Court was told.

Mark Brian Cox, 40, waded in after falsely believing the manager – who was investigating night noise complaints – had been snooping and was "the person next door".

The victim was in plaster for six weeks after suffering a fractured wrist when he fell to the roadway.

He also had soreness around his jaw and bruising.

Cox admitted assault occasioning bodily harm and was ordered to complete 12 months probation and pay $2500 compensation.
