Park visitors drop in from the sky Safari helicopters delight caravanners at border park
Story: Dennis Amor VISITORS to a NSW caravan park usually arrive by road ... but not this particular group of travellers. Caravanners were blown away when eight helicopters swooped in from the sky at the Nyngan Riverside Caravan Park on the border of the State's outback. The 68-site, three-and-a-half star park on the banks of the Bogan River 600km west of Sydney, was all abuzz as bosses Jack and Dione Carter greeted the air travellers for the final night of the fifth Helibiz Helicopter Safari. There were stories round the campfire, a river cruise and a spot of fishing in the adjoining river. After dinner at the nearby Smugglers Arms it was back to the fire for a few more laughs. And next morning delighted caravanners waved them farewell as the helicopters took off and headed home. A spokesman at the park, a member of the Oz Parks chain, told Caravanning News it had been a thrilling experience and it was hoped that next time they would spend more time there. The eight choppers were returning from Australia's Red Centre, where a group of 36 helicopters attempted to make the Guinness Book of World Records for the most civilian choppers in formation..
