Byron Bay's energy saving
park scoops top accolade

A NEW South Wales caravan park has been honoured for its efforts towards protecting the environment.

The three-and-a-half star Clarkes Beach Holiday Park at Byron Bay received the prestigious Land and Property Management Authority Environmental Excellence Award.

The beachfront park is managed by North Coast Holiday Parks which is responsible for 15 holiday parks on Crown land between Brunswick Heads and Scotts Head.

Spokesman Colin Woodbry said the park planned many more environmental and energy saving features.

Each of its cabins already undertakes water harvesting, and solar panels provide power for the reception area.
