CALLIOPE RIVER

SOMETIMES you discover a gem of a rest area ... and Calliope River is one of them! Situated 7km north of Calliope on the Bruce Highway in Queensland, this two-tiered site offers picturesque riverside or bush camping and good fishing. Access is over the river bridge which has a 5-tonne limit. Toilets. Rubbish bins. Suitable for large rigs. TV and mobile telephone reception good. Sign warns of crocodiles in area. Maximum stay 48 hours. Congratulations to Calliope Shire Council for providing travellers with a splendid facility.
