FEBRUARY 28:
A man has been charged in relation to a stolen caravan from Clontarf north of Brisbane. The RV disappeared on February 4 and was located at an address in Landsborough. Police have charged a 25-year-old Kensington Grove man with one count of enter premises and commit, and another of receiving tainted property. He is scheduled to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on April 15.

FEBRUARY 28:
Four BIG4 parks will battle for gold in tomorrow night's Regional Tourism Awards' caravan and holiday park category. They are the Adventure Whitsunday Resort - QLD, Great Lakes at Forster-Tuncurry - NSW, Hahndorf Resort - SA and the Inverloch Holiday Park - VIC. Also in the foray in Launceston will be the RAC Cervantes Holiday Park - WA and the NRMA Port Holiday Park - TAS.

Qeanbeyan Riverside Tourist ParkFEBRUARY 28:
Award-winning Queanbeyan Riverside Tourist Park in NSW will pull down the shutters today after being managed for two decades by Kevin Pritzler. This follows a decision by Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council not to renew his lease. The authority says it plans to upgrade the site and its closure is not permanent.

FEBRUARY 27:
Fraser Coast Regional Council in Queensland has welcomed Federal Government funding of $123,000 to install 33 CCTV security cameras at its beachfront caravan parks. Deputy Mayor Darren Everard joined with Hinkler MP Keith Pitt for today’s announcement.

FEBRUARY 27:
Gladstone Regional Council in Queensland says the Calliope caravan dump point is temporarily closed due to dangerous and unsafe tree. The nearest alternative is at the Boyne River rest area.

FEBRUARY 27:
Creditors of Blackburn Caravans, which went into liquidation last year, will meet at offices of Levi Consulting in Sydney on March 14.

CMCA Park at Bundaberg

FEBRUARY 25:
The CMCA, Australia's largest RV club with over 70,000 members, has relaxed its rules and will now allow non-members to use its low-cost RV parks. Up to 15 percent of sites may be available during busy periods but each park will be assessed individually to determine the mix. The club has parks in Ingham, Bundaberg, Chinchilla (Qld) and Railton (Tas). Its facility in Euston (NSW) is undergoing redevelopment and a sixth in Penola (SA) is in its early stages of development.

FEBRUARY 25:
South Australia's sizzling temperatures have forced the cancellation of Coonalpyn's four-day RV festival which was due to open on March 1. Coorong District Council said the decision was in the interest of public health and safety.

FEBRUARY 25:
WA-Based Fleetwood Corporation, which has offloaded its Coromal and Windsor caravans manufacturing operations, today announced a 17 percent rise in revenue to $167.5m for the half-year ending December 31, 2018. Statutory net after-tax profit was $3.1m after allowing for losses from its discontinued caravan building business.

Coromal caravanFEBRUARY 24
THE first of a new breed of Windsor and Coromal caravans has rolled off the production line at Apollo Tourism and Leisure's factory in Brisbane. Apollo bought the brand names for a bargain price of $1 million after disgruntled shareholders urged the former builders, Perth-based Fleetwood, to offload its loss-making RV manufacturing business.

Fatal caravan accident on Hume HwyFEBRUARY 21:
A caravanner died in a rollover on NSW's Hume Highway at Woodbine near Campbelltown this afternoon. A woman was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The couple had been travelling on the highway near the Raby Road overpass when their rig jack-knifed, causing their four-wheel-drive to roll. It took emergency services workers about 45 minutes to free the couple from the wreckage.

Lotus Caravans has been officially recognised by Australian Made Campaign Limited as being an authentic Aussie made brand. "It's a testament to our great Aussie ingenuity to slap the Australian Made sticker on our '[vans ... and a perfect complement to our 15th anniversary as a business." the Victorian caravan manufacturer said.

FEBRUARY 20:
The three-day Gold Coast Caravan & Outdoor Expo will be back at Metricon Stadium on March 1. More than 120 exhibits will be on display, ranging from the latest caravans, camper trailers, motorhomes, tent trailers, campervans, tow vehicles and accessories. Caravanning Queensland's general manager Jason Plant said the event would "delight" locals with this year's expanded offering. "Alongside products, educational seminars on caravan weights and towing will be available and there's even a spot for kids, with free entertainment on the weekend including rock climbing, AFL workshops and face painting," he added.

FEBRUARY 20:
Registrations have opened for this year's Caravan Industry Association of Australia's national conference to be held on the Gold Coast from May 15 to 17. During the event delegates will be taken on a tour of three "diverse" caravan parks on the glitter strip.

Rivershore Resort on the Sunshine CoastFEBRUARY 20:
Ingenia Communities, operators of a chain of lifestyle and holiday parks, has announced an underlying profit of $17.5 million for the half-year ending December 2018 ... a 20 percent rise over the previous corresponding period. Revenue, which rose 21 percent to $93.4 milion, is expected to continue rising after Ingenia acquired the Rivershore Resort on the Sunshine Coast (pictured) and Aspley Acres caravan park in Brisbane..

FEBRUARY 19:
Ingenia Communities, which operates a chain of lifestyle and holiday parks, has exchanged contracts to buy an established mixed-use park in NSW's Byron Bay for $15.3 million. The park has not been named.

Stolen caravanFEBRUARY 19:
Police have released cctv footage of a caravan being stolen from a business in Victoria. It shows the Newlands Zodiac twin-axled caravan being towed away from the property on Toolamba Road at Mooroopna north of Melbourne by a large white SUV with black rims. The caravan, which was stolen overnight on January 23, carried the registration number YZ8678. Anyone with information should contact Shepperton Police on 0358205777.

FEBRUARY 18:
Emergency services were attending an accident involving a car towing caravan on NSW's Hume Hwy at Mount Adrah this morning. No further details available.

Kulgera roadhouse and caravan parkFEBRUARY 17:
The Northern Territory's family owned and operated Kulgera roadhouse and caravan park near the border with South Australia is on the market and expected to fetch around $3.5 million. The popular stopover and refuelling spot for grey nomads is known as the 'First and Last' pub in the NT and is surrounded by cattle stations, vast red dirt, roaming camels, emus and reptiles.

FEBRUARY 16:
A man who fell asleep in caravan leaving a chip-fryer on a lit stove is lucky to be alive, firefighters said. Quick action from fellow park residents had the fire under control before fire crews arrived on scene at the Wedderburn Pioneer Caravan Park in Victoria. "Please take care when cooking and never leave hot oil unattended," the local fire brigade said. The caravan and its annex were badly damaged.

Stolen Windsor caravanFEBRUARY 16:
Determined thieves made off with a Windsor caravan from a private property in the Gympie suburb of Southside. Queensland Police said the unregistered 14ft Weekender pop-top was stolen between February 12 and 14 from a rear yard in Jasmine Avenue. "It was securely stored with no other means of removing it other than to drive through another block at the rear of the property, through a creek bed and drag it out onto another street as there is no front access to move it onto Jasmine Avenue," Senior Constable Deb Wruck explained. Anyone with information is urged to contact police, quoting reference number QP1900313707.

WA-based Fleetwood, which offloaded its Coromal and Windsor caravan manufacturing business to Apollo Tourism and Leisure for $1m last year, will reveal its half-year results on February 25.

FEBRUARY 14:
Dust storm being blamed for accident near Junee in NSW in which a truck ran up the back of a caravan, causing extensive damage to the RV. The caravanners escaped unhurt.

Gay Fair DayFEBRUARY 13:
The Caravan Industry Association of Australia will be taking part in Sydney's Mardi Gras Fair Day on February 17. "The caravan and camping industry will be supporting the event and facilitating a presence through Australia’s Gay Nomads," the association announced today. The LGBTI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer) travel market in Australia has been identified as an area of opportunity for the caravanning and camping industry and represents about $965 million each year. Over 80, 000 people are expected to flock to Victoria Park in Sydney for the Fair Day event, which will kick off from 10am and feature live entertainment, stalls, food and drink outlets and more.

Police Crime Prevention officers will attend the Moreton Bay Caravan, Camping, Boating and 4X4 Expo at the Redcliffe Showgrounds north of Brisbane this weekend. Visitors will have the chance to discuss all things road safety including outback road safety education, safety and security when travelling and how to prevent becoming a victim of crime on their travels.

Shares in Ingenia Communities, which operates a chain of lifestyle and holiday parks, opened at a six-month high of $3.16 on the Australian Stock Exchange today.

Regarded as the caravanners' Bible, the 10th edition of Camps Australia Wide - which lists thousands of budget or free camping sites - is now shipping out to travellers across Australia. The new version is spiral bound.

HeartFEBRUARY 11:
Valentine's Day camping trips are good for relationships, according to Australia's peak caravanning industry body. Caravan Industry Association of Australia research believes caravan and camping trips could be beneficial for relationships. And what better day to prove the point than on February 14, says the association. It's Real Richness Report found that 85 percent of campers felt closer to their spouse or partner compared to 65 percent of non-campers.

Regional Development Australia (Whyalla and Eyre Peninsula) will hold a series of public consultation sessions beginning February 18 on the future of camping on SA's Eyre Peninsula.

Hungry thief stole food from a caravanners' fridge-freezer which had been left under an awning at Geraldton Belair Gardens Caravan Park in WA.

FEBRUARY 8:
The much anticipated 'glamping' experience on Rottnest Island in WA is about to arrive with Discovery - Rottnest Island opening to the public in just three weeks. Tourism Minister Paul Papalia today toured the $25 million joint venture between Baileys Group and Discovery Parks, which claims to be the largest owner and operator of lifestyle holiday parks in Australia.

he Australian Caravan Club will hold talks in Shepperton on February 19 with a view to forming a Goulburn Valley branch.

FEBRUARY 8:
NSW's Caravan Camping Industry Association has kicked off its four-day Caravan Camping Holiday Expo. Over 160 exhibitors have taken over Newcastle's Entertainment Centre and Showground to showcase their products until Sunday. Caravanning and camping is a booming industry that contributes significantly to the local tourism economy of the Hunter and NSW North Coast.

Coconut Grove caravan parkFEBRUARY 7:
Hervey Bay's 93-site Coconut Grove caravan park in Queensland has sold at auction for $1.7 million. Marketed by Ray White's Glenn Fallon, there were six registered bidders, with bids opening at $1 million.

FEBRUARY 6:
Ingenia Communities, which operates a chain of lifestyle and holiday parks, has appointed Vanessa Chidrawi as joint company secretary. "Ms Chidrawi brings with her a wealth of experience in governance management, mergers and acquisitions, board advisory and capital raising in the listed company space," Ingenia said.

FEBRUARY 6:
Bodies of man and child found in car at Roys Road camping ground at Coochin Creek. Queensland police said they were treating death of child as suspicious and the man's death as non-suspicious. Investigations continuing.

Teven rest areaFEBRUARY 5:
Teven Road - West Ballina rest area at junction of Pacific and Bruxner Highway in NSW to close permanently, Roads and Maritime Services announced today. This is due to work on new Ballina highway service centre, which is due to start in early March. Alternative rest areas can be found to the north and south of Ballina by using the online NSW Rest Area map on the Roads and Maritime Services website.

FEBRUARY 5:
UPDATE: Police said they had now traced the owner of caravan, which is believed to have been stolen from Majestic Caravans at Caboolture.

Police were attempting to unravel the mystery of an abandoned car and caravan which crashed into a tree at Beerwah in the Sunshine Coast hinterland overnight. The Majestic Knight caravan and tow vehicle were found shortly before 6am this morning at the corner of Old Gympie Road and Pikes Road. "The car had collided with a tree and there were no signs of any people," a police spokesman told Caravanning News. "At this stage we believe the car and caravan were stolen." The 21ft caravan was undamaged and was being taken to a police holding yard as inquiries into the mystery continued.

FEBRUARY 4:
Thieves cut a chain and padlock to steal a camper trailer from a property in Imboon St, Deception Bay, north of Brisbane. It is describeed as a 2017 grey 4×4 style Stoney Creek camper trailer with Queensland registration 628UEY.

FEBRUARY 4:
Visitors spent a total of 1.2 million caravanning and camping nights in NSW's Hunter region, a 12 percent rise on the previous year, according to the state's Caravan Camping Industry Association.

Billabong caravanFEBRUARY 4:
PicklesONLINE will hold a seven-day online auction of 11 Billabong Custom caravans in Brisbane beginning February 8. Buyers will be able to bid online from anywhere in Australia. Founded 12 years ago and with nationwide outlets, Victoria-based Billabong manufactured quality handmade custom caravans at its Campbellfield factory but shocked the industry when it went into external administration last October.

Police investigating cause of blaze which destroyed caravan at Eldorado Tourist Park in Batesford, Victoria, late last night. No one was injured.

Coromal and Windsor caravansFEBRUARY 3:
Coromal and Windsor warranty agents complain of being kept in the dark after Apollo acquired brand names. Apollo will soon begin manufacturing the caravans at its Brisbane factory. Ge Wilson, of Wilsons Caravan Repairs at Midland, WA, told Caravanning News: "We have been told nothing or had anything in writing about the sale. Not a word from the beginning."
