Shopping stop ends in disaster Bread stop brings fiery end to NSW couple's holiday A COUPLE'S caravanning holiday came to a fiery end when they stopped to buy bread in a NSW town.
Bob and Joy Ison were on the first day of a five-day trip when they decided to do a spot of shopping in Batemans Bay, 300km south of Sydney. They were in a local bakery when another customer told them their caravan, parked outside the Visitor Information Centre, was ablaze. Firefighters tackled the flames while police unhitched the Ison's tow vehicle. The freshly painted caravan was badly damaged, the fire causing an estimated $8000 damage. The shocked couple returned to their Burrill Lake home, just an hour's drive away, vowing to take another holiday in a replacement caravan. Investigations into the cause of the fire were continuing.
